OUR STORY

Yellow Edge is a local, privately owned Canberra-based company dedicated to helping individuals, teams and organisations to greater levels of performance.

In 2002, our four Founding Directors embarked on a new journey after departing from a multinational corporation, disillusioned by its business practices and treatment of people.

Yellow Edge was founded on a clear set of values and an approach to our work that is client-centred.

Our high performance work is carried out through the following business streams:

  • Human Potential consulting including organisational alignment, executive cohesion, workforce planning, capability planning, business planning organisational reviews and design and performance management.

  • Citizen and stakeholder engagement. We specialise in building solid engagement strategies for organisations as well as conduct stakeholder engagement processes on their behalf with citizens, communities and business stakeholders.

  • Leadership development including executive cohesion, senior and middle level management and leadership development.

  • Capability development in many areas including change management, performance management, team building, influencing, conflict management and emotional intelligence, self-awareness, customer service and problem solving.

  • Professional coaching for staff and middle managers.

  • Executive coaching including senior executives and up to chief executive level.

Our Continuing Story

The story of Yellow Edge has never been static.

Over the years, the company was bought by a large Australian advertising company, which was then acquired by an even large global marketing and communications company headquartered in the UK and listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

In 2019, CEO Andrew Simon set himself a moonshot and bought the company back, confident that the company would flourish under private ownership and that it would make a more meaningful impact on leaders and the people they lead, and that employees would benefit in more ways if we could control our own destiny.

We haven’t looked back since.

Moonshots have since characterised our ambitions and several moonshots followed including the ambition of becoming of B Corp which it achieved in 2021 and the ambition to become a Climate Active Certified company as a way of doing its part for the planet in 2023.

Co-CEO Leadership

In 2022, Andrew set another moonshot of shifting the nature of CEO leadership from a traditional single person model to one jointly held by two people.

As a company that is committed to developing and role modelling good leadership, we now have a Co-CEO leadership model for the company that is about leading generatively, jointly, and inclusively, recognising that new ways of leading are required if we are to meet the challenges and opportunities of the present and future. This is not an easy leadership model but is one that we are committed to.

Research, Sustainability and Social Impact Function

Yellow Edge now also has an internal Research, Sustainability and Social Impact function to drive its ambitions in being a net positive contributor to the environment and to our community. This function also focuses on the conduct or commission of research to better understand how we can continue to support leaders in their development and practice.

Commitment to the progress of women

The Yellow Edge story now also includes a strong and abiding commitment to the progress of women. It has a number of progressive polices and practices including paying all women staff 2% more superannuation than the legislated amount in recognition that the earning capacity of women is often disrupted by child rearing and caring responsibilities.

Where does the Yellow Edge story go to next?

We are now embarking on a journey with AI and its applications developing new services that will help people learn and develop in new ways so that their potential to flourish and grow can be unlocked even more.

As we continue to evolve, set and achieve new moonshots, our future is what we make of it.
